Enhance Your YouTube Experience with RegretsReporter
RegretsReporter is a Firefox extension designed to give users more control over their YouTube recommendations. This tool allows users to directly influence YouTube's algorithm by reporting unwanted video suggestions. By simply clicking a “stop recommending” button over video thumbnails, users can provide feedback to YouTube, helping to refine and improve the accuracy of recommendations. Additionally, users have the option to contribute data to a crowdsourced research project aimed at understanding the impacts of YouTube's recommendation system.
The extension is exclusively for users aged 18 and older and operates on desktop versions of Firefox and Chrome. Privacy is a key focus, as data collected from users who opt-in is anonymized and linked to a randomly-generated user ID. RegretsReporter facilitates a significant investigation into recommendation systems, having previously contributed to findings that led to changes in YouTube's algorithm following extensive user feedback. While the interface is currently only available in English, the extension supports analysis of videos in multiple languages.
